As the final part of an announced FTP restructuring effort, we will remove the old PMC Bulk Open Access files on March 18, 2019 – but please note that the data is still available.
In August 2016, the PMC Open Access dataset was split into two groups:
- The Commercial Use Collection is an Open Access Subset of PMC articles approved for commercial use with a machine-readable “CC BY” (Creative Commons Attribution Only) or “CC0” (Creative Commons public domain) license.
- The Non-Commercial Use Collection is an Open Access subset of PMC articles approved for non-commercial purposes only with machine-readable non-commercial use licenses and are also provided as PDFs.
These two collections do not overlap in content; for non-commercial uses, you need to download both collections to obtain the complete Open Access Subset.
