The new BLAST results are now the default view

As you may know,  we have been offering a new BLAST results (Figure 1) as a test page since April.  In response to your positive reception and after incorporating many improvements that you suggested, we made the new results the default today,  August 1, 2019.

You will still be able to access to the traditional results for a several months. This will provide you additional time if you need it to adjust your workflows or teaching materials to the new display.

Thank you for the feedback on the new results.  We made several improvements to address issues or concerns that you pointed out.  You also told us about 17 additional features you would like us to add. We are working on incorporating these into the page and welcome additional suggestions.  Please let us know what you think.

  1. Its dreadful! The printouts dont even match whats on screen nor automatically tell you what the input file name and description were – there are two full pages of unnecessary junk at the beginning – and a result that previously required 8 pages to print now occupies 13 pages. Also what happened to my beloved Dot Matrix diagram – I see nothing that is improved for me at all -please do not stop access to the old version ever.

    1. Thank you for your feedback. We have added the dot matrix as a new tab on the results page. Also, we have fixed the printing issue to reduce paper and align with what is displayed. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact our Help Desk (blast-help@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov).

  2. There is no link to the ‘Back to traditional results page’. I would like to see the whole alignment, not bits and pieces of it. Why ruin a perfectly working model?
